How to Register as First Time Voter
Voting is one of the most important responsibilities of citizens in a democracy. In the Philippines, you have to register in order to vote. This is how you do it.
Steps:
1. Present yourself to the Election Officer of the place where you intend to vote, and inform him of your desire to apply for registration;
2. Fill out the appropriate application form;
3. Present yourself for the capturing of your biometric information, i.e., your digital image, your fingerprint, and your electronically recorded signature;
4. Receive your Acknowledgment Receipt;
5. Wait for the Notice of Hearing on your application. This will be issued by the Election Registration Board;
6. Attend the Hearing if one is called since a Hearing means that someone has challenged your right to be registered as a voter. If no Hearing has been called, simply wait for confirmation that your application has been approved.
Tips:
* Register early to avoid the rush. People usually wait until the very last day to register, and usually end up not being able to register at all.
* Do not lose the acknowledgment receipt. That’s your proof that you applied for registration
Warnings:
* To be eligible to vote in the 2010 National and Local Elections, you must meet the following qualifications:

o At least eighteen (18) years of age;
o Has resided in the Philippines for at least one (1) year and in the place wherein he proposes to vote for at least six (6) months immediately preceding the election;
